The Huawei G8 Boasts Many Improvements Over The Ascend G7

The Huawei Mate S may be hogging all the limelight now but Huawei has got another smartphone to announce during their IFA 2015 event and that is the successor to last year’s Ascend G7 – the G8.

The Huawei G8 is an upgrade over its predecessor in almost every way. On the design front, the G8 has gone full metal for that sleek and premium touch but its overall shape stays pretty much the same. What’s different is the addition to the increasingly must-have fingerprint scanner, located at the back just below the camera lens.

As this comes almost a year after the Ascend G7 debuted, its hardware has been brought up to match with the times.

  • 5-inch Full HD display (1920 x 1080 pixels)
  • 3GB RAM
  • Octa-core 1.2GHz processor
  • Qualcomm MSM8939 Snapdragon 615
  • 32GB internal storage memory (expandable up to 64GB with microSD)
  • Dual SIM
  • Android 5.1 Lollipop
  • EMUI 3.1
  • 13MP rear camera with OIS
  • 5MP front-facing camera
  • 3,000mAh battery (non-removable)

Along with the Mate S which will be released in Malaysia within this month of September itself, the G8 will also meet Malaysia consumers in the next few weeks. It is highly likely we will see the two devices being launched together on our shore when the time comes.

As far as the price go, it costs Euro 399 (just about RM1,890)
